Middletown defeats the Kingston Tigers to continue their win streak heading into the playoffs.

Middletown began Halloween and senior night with strong momentum, aiming to secure its fourth consecutive victory to conclude the regular season against Kingston. The Middie Bears started aggressively, marching downfield in less than a minute before sophomore quarterback Joseph Royal rushed in for a swift 6–0 lead.
Kingston tried to respond, but Middletown’s defense stood tall, stuffing the run and forcing a third-and-long. A Jack Purvis pass to Jonathan Noe briefly kept Kingston alive, but a holding penalty stalled the drive, giving Middletown the ball back.
The Bears capitalized when Andy Aristhene broke free for a 30-yard touchdown, extending the lead to 13–0. Kingston answered with a gutsy fake punt and multiple fourth-down conversions, capped by a 12-yard Calvin Byrd-Towns score to make it 13–6. The failed two-point try kept Middletown ahead heading into the second quarter.
Windy conditions and penalties slowed both teams, but Royal reignited Middletown’s offense with his second rushing TD, capping a 72-yard drive for a 20–6 lead. Kingston nearly struck back before halftime but came up empty, sending the Bears into the break still in control.
The second half opened with sloppy penalties on both sides, but Royal stayed locked in, adding his third rushing touchdown to push the lead to 26–6. Kingston was able to get into plus territory at Middletown’s 44 on the next drive, with about a minute left in the third. An offside call on Middletown led to a fourth and inches instead of five yards for Kingston in what was a choppy third quarter.
Kingston attempted to initiate a surge in the fourth quarter. However, Middletown's Owen Brinson had other plans, intercepting Purvis's pass that all but sealed the game.
Middletown was called for unsportsmanlike conduct that backed the Middie Bears all the way to their own five-yard line. Middletown managed to advance to the red zone, but Kingston intercepted the ball and returned it to their own 49-yard line, reducing the deficit to 26–12 after Carter Ricketson scored a touchdown; however, it was too late for a comeback.
Middletown closed its regular season with a 26–12 victory—its fourth straight—and now turns its focus to a playoff rematch with Newburgh, which shut them out 35–0 earlier this year. But this is a new Middletown team, riding confidence, chemistry, and momentum. In the postseason, anything can happen—and the Middie Bears believe anything is possible.
